MUMBAI -(Dow Jones)- The value of assets managed by Indian mutual funds grew 2.6% in October from a month earlier, after a 0.9% fall in September.

Mutual funds' total assets under management rose to INR7.63 trillion (about $ 162.16 billion) in October from INR7.43 trillion in September, according to data issued Wednesday by the Association of Mutual Funds in India.

The Bombay Stock Exchange's benchmark Sensitive Index slid 7.2% in October, limiting its gains to about 65% in the first 10 months of 2009.

The 30-stock index had plunged more than 53% in 2008.
