Some investors build their portfolios around investment styles, placing a certain percentage of their portfolios in large-growth stocks, reserving another slice for small-value names, etc. Other investors, meanwhile, invest according to sectors. Sector funds, which focus on a specific industry, can be useful tools for building a portfolio with just the exposure you want.
