SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Netflix Inc. (NFLX) shares hit an all-time high Tuesday, rising above the $305-a-share mark to $306.10. It took more than two years for Netflix's stock to finally eclipse its previous record high of $304.79 a share, which it reached on July 13, 2011. Shortly after that, Netflix announced a splitting of its DVD-rental and video-streaming subscriptions, and a plan to spin off of its DVD-rental business that was later scrapped. Netflix hit its new high two days before the release of its latest original series, "Derek", starring Ricky Gervais.
