SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Shares of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc. dropped in the extended session late Thursday following a disappointing second-quarter quarterly earnings report and full-year outlook.
Krispy Kreme shares fell 12% to $20.40 on moderate volume after the doughnut maker posted adjusted quarterly earnings of 14 cents a share on revenue of $112.7 million, and forecast adjusted full-year earnings of 59 cents to 63 cents a share.
Analysts polled by FactSet were looking for 16 cents a share on revenue of $111.9 million for the second quarter, and estimate 64 cents a share for the year.
Salesforce.com Inc. (CRM) shares rose 7.6% to $46.93 on heavy volume after Web-based software company topped Wall Street estimates and provided a strong outlook.
Splunk Inc. (SPLK) shares rose 6.2% to $51.95 on moderate volume after the data-intelligence software company raised its sales outlook for the year.
Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. (PSUN) shares dropped 12% to $3.46 on moderate volume as the specialty retailer said it expects a loss of 4 cents to 9 cents a share for the current quarter, compared with the Wall Street break-even consensus.
