Shares of power-plant operators fell Wednesday, but not by as much as the broad market, as traders shifted into a defensive posture. The return of volatility to the stock market caused investors to seek out havens, including utilities and even Treasury bonds, which rose slightly. "Utilities, telecoms, consumer staples may be amongst the more challenged sectors," said Oliver Pursche, chief market strategist at broker dealer Bruderman Brothers.
