Shares of Dollar Tree Inc. are down 15% in morning trading following misses on earnings and same-store sales in its latest quarter and the decline is weighing on other discount-focused retailers. Ross Stores Inc. is down 4.7% as Burlington Stores Inc. is down 3.7%, as the S&P 500 falls 0.4%. "Competition has been intense for a few years," Ross Stores CEO Barbara Rentler said on a Tuesday conference call with analysts. "I think competition will remain intense."
