SAO PAULO--Brazil's industrial output rose a seasonally adjusted 2.8% in December from the previous month as production of durable goods jumped.

Output rose 4.3% in December from a year earlier, the eighth consecutive year-on-year increase, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, or IBGE, said Thursday.

Production of durable goods rose 5.9% in December from November, and increased 20.8% from a year earlier, IBGE said.
