Germany's Siemens AG (SIE.XE) will design a building-automation and fire-safety system for the new central terminal at New York's LaGuardia Airport, the company said Wednesday.

Siemens said its building-technology division will work with a joint venture between Sweden's Skanska AB (SKA-B.SK) and Chicago-based Walsh Group (WLS.XX) to deploy the system.

The new terminal complex will be located closer to the existing Grand Central Parkway, freeing up valuable ground-space for planes, Siemens said.

The company didn't disclose financial details of the contract.
