On hand for the announcement were Yves H. Canac has purchased a 370,000 ft2 lot on which it will begin construction in 2019 of a $6 million warehouse-store that will consist of 40,000 ft2 of retail space and 30,000 ft2 of warehouse space.

In November 2015, the Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ and contractor Grilli Samuel Consortium Immobilier announced a partnership agreement for the acquisition of 4.3 million square feet of land in the city of Contrecœur. The industrial hub — Technopole Contrecœur — accounts for 40% of the project's buildings. The land is located along the Saint-Lawrence River, the CN rail line, the Gaz Métro network and Route 132. It consists of 2.3 million square feet of land divided into about 15 lots slated for the construction of value-added warehouses and distribution centres capable of handling large volumes. The commercial hub — Cité 3000 — is located near Autoroute 30 and consists of 2 million square feet of land on which commercial buildings will be erected along with a highway service area.

"We are pleased to announce the arrival of Canac, a key player in the retail sector, in Contrecoeur's Cité 3000. This is a major partner that has chosen to focus on the metropolitan region for its strategic development and we are confident that its arrival will have a ripple effect and attract other players from the retail, hotel, financial and restaurant industries."
Yves H. Samuel, President, Grilli Samuel Consortium Immobilier

"The Cité 3000 project is an extremely important part of Québec's maritime strategy, which calls for the development of the Contrecoeur-Varennes industrial port zone. With the development of this important commercial hub, which will take several years, we are participating in the region's economic development and creating hundreds of jobs, an ongoing objective for us. With the arrival of Canac, 100 recurring jobs will be created as of 2019."
Normand Bélanger, President and CEO, Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ

For her part, Contrecoeur mayor Suzanne Dansereau welcomes this announcement confirming Canac's arrival. "This investment will contribute to the city's commercial growth. I am convinced that this is the beginning of a series of investments that will soon be announced for Cité 3000, which is part of the industrial port zone. I would like to thank Grilli Samuel Consortium Immobilier and the Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ as well as Canac for contributing to our city's vitality."
